Technical FAQ - Questions about the parts and information

After all the research is done on one car model the SHBC staff gives it a SHBC rating. This tells you how easy and cheap the car is to own and maintain. Higher the score the cheaper the parts and better availability said parts have!
Examples A 1990's BMW M-car might get a decent rating for abundance of OE and aftermarket parts. A 1960's exotic car from Italy with horrible availability for parts and used ones are super expensive. This would amount to a very low SHBC rating.
When the SHBC rating is about the whole ownership Parts Availability states an average rating of just availability (also by staff). If price is not a problem, then this is your metric of the day!
These guides are always talking about original versions of any given car. For instance an engine rebuild is assuming to mostly original status not modified with big turbos and extra power.
The pricing date on an article states when the information was gathered and article published. Data will not change until a big update is made. This means that the information is frozen in time. In there future there will be updates on data and we can see how parts availability and pricing has changed on any given car.
